Sardinia - and some historic stops

Besides the stunning beaches Sardinia has some historic sites to offer - the Roman town Thassos at the sea, some roman temples and a lot of Nuraghes (2500 year old stone houses) and petite medieval churches...on top we had a night in Cagliari - the biggest city in the south with narrow streets, great shopping and nice restaurants. At the Costa Smeralda (where the really really rich people spend their summer vacation) we checked out the Ferrari yacht and made sure that the "Bear rock" did not fall down ;-)

Sardinia - Beaches - Beaches - Beaches

In Sardinia there are beaches for every taste - white sand, brown sand with tiny rocks, big gray rocks....with dunes or cliffs - we checked a lot of them out. With and without building sand castles.... San Teodoro itself had 12 different beaches! Getting to some of them in the Southwest of the islands was a bit adventurous - but thanks to 4wheel drive just "Fahrvergnuegen" ;-)

yes this water was very very blue - the heat exhausting (38 degrees) - but a beautiful little hike with a fresh dip in the water in the end! the only challenge - no trail markers...but hey this is Sardinia!

Summer Vacation - Sardinia - our first ferry trip

We used the ferry to get to Sardinia - it is a 10h trip from Genua. One trip we did overnight and slept perfectly in our cabin - the trip back was during the day and very fascinating for our little Ronja (there was so much to discover - the pool, the playroom, all the hallways and decks - I guess she made a few miles running over this big ship). Her favorite spot in our cabin was at the window while scraming: we are driving!

Detroit Expat Summer Weekend

What a perfect weekend - summer, sunshine, sausage! This years Detroit expat reunion was perfectly organized from our hosts in Thueringen - in the eastern part of Germany. We did beautiful hikes along the Rennsteig, had tons of the famous sausages (got even a surprise sausage snack on our hike!), had a beautiful lake (with really cold water), several birthdays to celebrate with cakes and fireworks, plenty of good drinks

....and after our serious preparation in the night before the game with a lot of expert talk....even a German soccer festival!!! Thank you for the organization - it was blast! See you all hopefully soon!

Stuttgart Halfmarathon Weekend with Michigan friends

This weekend was runners weekend - with great friends from Turino (that we know from Michigan). Saturday 4 year old Jolie had her first race ever (1km) with her mother Robin (on the photo at the finish line). Adrian her brother did the 1km as well successfully. On Sunday Robin, Fede and Anja ran the Stuttgart Halfmarathon - while Jupp watched the 3 kids. In the end we got even interviewed for the newspaper and we all had our medals! On top we had great food, some sightseeing with local champagne and lots of fun! Thank you for coming and we hope to see you guys soon!
