The project - final week

The clock ticks - one more week before we move in...we have more work on the floors but also some finished parts, like the entrance area (where we painted/sprayed the old shelfs and have now white instead of greenish wood) as well as some parts of the walk in closet - where we painted a lot of boxes - surely from greenish to white again :-)

See our chamber or "hell" of white spray - or lets call it the future bathroom...

...and did we mention that there is a ton of cleaning to do...

The project - floor week

This week was the week of the floors - the first level is still in progress while we decided to also do the 2nd level - and bought more wooden floor that came with an extra challenge of painting the too high tiles on the side (a huge mess that never ever comes of your hands - even while using gloves it worked its way deep into the skin and nails...)....time is running but we are still fighting - more or less upright!

Thanks for another running team (Julia and Sven) for carrying wood up and garbage down!

And continuing thanks to my parents for a marathon support job!

The project - more and more and more work

Some more pics - thanks to the work and help of a lot of people we are making progress. Special thanks to the Wood-Team-Wex, the Bathroom-Destroyer-Team Schuster, the Gardener Imme and the Allrounder-Team Mueller!

After 5 weeks we are working on the last wood ceiling, the never ending paint work at the stair railing, more electrical stuff and the wooden floors - and the first 40 boxes with books are in the attic...3 more weeks til moving day....

and last but not least: thanks to the babysitters for Ronja - it is great to know that she enjoys the time with you - thanks a lot!

The project - after 4 weeks of work

We are making progress - not only Ronja improved her skills ;-) The walls are finished and most of the ceilings as well as the nightmare wall of the staircase - next step is the floor. Thanks to our strong helpers we carried a ton of wood in the 3rd floor!

So after all the paint and wall dust - next will be wooden dust...

The project - after 3 weeks of work

We are working already for three weeks in our "project" - a few things changed: some of our ceilings are not dark anymore! (in 5 hard steps: each of them washed two times, 1 time base layer and 2 times color). Some of our walls are smooth as baby skin (kitchen and staircase - preparation for coloring after "destruction" work) and some of them have already colors - Ronja's room with a pink and purple wall, dessert colors in the master bedroom and the pink pig dots are the start of an extraordinary kitchen (which in supposed to come out red ;-) ) - we both have color in our hair that doesn't come of anymore, the french manicure is ruined and every muscle hurts - but there is still plenty to do! BTW the demolition team carried 1.2 tons of tiles over 3 floors down into a container!

The project started!

To get such a beautiful view and sunset from your own apartment you need to do some work - this week we started our remodeling job at the place we bought - which meant "destroy" a whole kitchen and a bathroom, pull ugly carpet of a wall (over two floors!) and much more. Fortunately my parents came over for a full week and helped a lot - thank you so much!!!!

There is still plenty to do before we have to move in by end of April...at least Ronja liked the picnics we did in the evening after daycare in the middle of the construction chaos ;-)....we keep you posted.

Carneval night parade

It was dark and a bit scary - the night parade in our village for carneval. Unfortunately to dark to take pictures of the witches and wolves - all the traditional masks and costumes - but fun with a beer at the sidewalk watching the parade with Susi and Philipp!
